A question from Valerie
I looked so forward to cracking open "Born Round" each night, in eager anticipation to read about the food you may be discussing! Just like I love to watch Food Network or watch the food items for sale on QVC...I don't buy--I just watch and take it all in. Kind of like food porn for me. I've recently lost 60 pounds through running, boot-camp exercises and watching my diet. The way you thought/think about food and all it encompasses hit the nail on the head for me. Thanks, Mr. Bruni, for an excellent book! And all the best to you as you remain vigilant in your diet and exercise--you're not the only one in that boat.
PS: I'm running in a half-marathon next month...and will probably fantasize about what I get to eat when it's over. Do you do this when you exercise?
Yes, I absolutley do that: think about what the meal I'm making a down payment on is going to be. That's sort of how I see an especially intense instance of exercise like a long run (which I can't take as many of as I used to: knees and feet complain), as a down payment on a great meal. Because I never want great meals to exit my life. For the sake of great meals, I'm happy never to be skinny so long as I'm not heavy. That's my goal: to be reasonably fit and trim WITH great food in my life.
