A question from Lora
Hi Frank -- no question for you to answer here, just wanted to thank you for writing "Born Round." As a journalist and lifelong dieter myself, I appreciated reading about the struggles that got you to where you are, and your honestly about the embarassments along the way. Congrats on a great book.
I always loved reading your NYT Dining reviews, despite my being a Midwesterner who's been to NYC once in my life and eaten in exactly zero of its fine-dining establishments. Your writing never failed to entertain and make me feel like I was experiencing the meal myself. Although I enjoyed all of "Born Round," I especially liked reading about how you handled the challenges of being a dining critic.
Thanks for the feedback, hugely appreciated. Not sure if you meant me to post this or not; in case you did, I'm posting, and apologize to others if it seems self-congratulatory. I don't mean it that way. But I've been really touched by how many readers have reached out to me, less so through this web site than through usual email channels at the Times and on gmail and on Facebook. I thought the book would strike people with certain kinds of food obsessions as very truthful, and that they would recognize themselves in it, and I'm so grateful that that's turned out to be true. Thank you for your note.
