A question from Kerry

I haven't read your book - YET - but had some questions...did you have the actual DESIRE to lose weight, etc, before you changed things in your life? Did the motivation come before or after you changed your thinking? Also, is it something you battle daily in your mind? I heard a clip and you had said that every couple of weeks you allow yourself one day to "binge", have you ever had difficulty getting back on track after that "one day"?

Answer:

I hope you do read the book and would kindly ask you to, because it indeed answers your questions, which define its scope and much of the reason I put it out there. I think you'll find it helpful in regard to everything you ask. In sum: yes, of course you have to have the desire to lose weight, but you have to have more than that: lots of people have the desire, and I had it long before I lost weight. You have to wed that desire to a sensible strategy, hard work, and reasonable expectations of progress. As for my occasional binge, no, I don't find it throws me off track. Because, going into it, I know it's this one moment, this pause, in a more disciplined life. It has tight parameters around it.
