A question from Jon O
Frank, are you a compulsive overeater? Did you get into a 12-step recovery program? If you participate in something like OA, how do you contend with the principles of anonymity at the level of press, etc?
If you're not in OA or another 12 step, what did you do with your food addiction? (I guess I'm asking "if not, why not?" but I'm asking it with a smile).
Full disclosure: I'm a compulsive overeater and I'm in Overeaters Anonymous. I am very gladdened to see you appear to have relief from your addiction, however you did it! Blessings!
I have never been formally diagnosed, so I tend to avoid characterizing myself with language that's better rendered and doled out by a therapist, language like addict, etc. I absolutely ate compulsively, and to a lesser extent still have those moments and short-lived periods, but I'm better, much better, than in the past. How did I do it? I pretty much describe it in "Born Round." With a combination of resolve and adjusted habits and re-channeled obsession.
